His father, though disappointed, was sympathetic to his son’s restless spirit. And that’s what makes the book important, highly relevant to our times – a must read, particularly now with the on-going migrant crisis in Europe. Our introduction to the character of Inspector Wallander by Henning Mankell, was certainly unusual.
Read it Forward Read it first. Before a press conference, Wallander has an attack of self-doubt. The plot arises like a Phoenix from this backdrop of which Mankell is a crucial source both personally and professionally as enlightening the world to such problems.
Faceless Killers (Kurt Wallander, #1) by Henning Mankell
No ulcer ridden, overworked police mankel barking orders here, or lengthy descriptions of cityscapes; the author has created an ominous, heady atmosphere of fear and simmering outrage after facelfss murder of an elderly couple in a bucolic farming village. He had been twenty-three then, suddenly profoundly aware of what it meant to be a policeman. We love our wives but still have hots for pretty ladies we meet.

Also by Henning Mankell. How does solving a crime restore, if only briefly, order fceless the world? Henning Mankell does indeed do that for me with his Inspector Kurt Wallander.
A well that reveals nothing of its contents. A strong sense of place also is evoked and semi-rural locations take on new dimensions. One theory and one suspect after another turn out to be dead ends, but Wallander is tenacious.
